Hailey Fort spends much of her spare time these days working with nail guns, electric drills and hydraulic staplers in her yard. But she isn’t building a tree fort or a girl’s clubhouse. She is building shelters for homeless people.
According to KING 5 News, the 9-year-old was inspired to build this first shelter after meeting a homeless man, Edward, who lost his job at a local grocery store.
She and her mother bought the man a sandwich, but Hailey wanted to figure out a way to keep providing food to people in need. So she started a garden, Hailey’s Harvest, which she used donate 128 pounds of produce to the local food bank late last year, KING 5 News reports in the video below.
