In the blockbuster film Avatar, a human-alien hybrid called an ‘Avatar’ is created to facilitate communication with the indigenous Na’vis from the planet Pandora and the visiting humans, who they called the ‘Sky People’.
The ‘Avatar’ is controlled by a human who is connected to a machine that reads his brainwaves and sends commands to the ‘Avatar in real time. Of course, this concept is science fiction. Or is it? What you’re about to see will blow your mind.
In this TED video, neuroscientist Greg Gage demonstrates how you can control someone else’s arm with your brain. What he does at the 5:02 mark is mind-bending. You have to see it to believe it! Maybe the ‘Avatar’ idea is not so far fetch after all!
This makes me wonder: Will we have ‘avatars’ of our own in the future? What do you think? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below!
