For nine-year-old Kaiser Carlile, there was nothing more exciting than baseball. He enjoyed being on the field as a bat boy for his local amateur baseball team. On August 2nd, during a National Baseball Congress World Series game in Wichita KS, Kaiser was standing outside the dugout, waving at the crowd, when he was struck on the head by a practice swing. He died on Sunday.
Kaiser, who was wearing a helmet when he was hit, collapsed and never regained consciousness. This newly-released photograph shows the moment a baseball player cradled the dying nine-year-old in his arms after he was fatally hit in the head.
The image has gone viral with people from around the world sending their prayers and condolences to the family.
A statement announcing the boy’s death was posted on the Facebook page of the Liberal Bee Jays of Liberal, KS. “With the permission of the family, and with much sorrow and a very broken heart, I regretfully inform everyone that Kaiser Carlile passed away earlier this evening. Please keep his family and our team in your thoughts and prayers,” the statement reads.
What a terrible loss! Please pray for this family and those involved in this tragic accident.
