Being an explorer, discovering ancient structures and relics unseen by human eyes for thousands of years is certainly a fantasy that many of us had when we were kids, but it’s one that has stayed with me in my adult-life. So when I came across this story about some ancient statues recently discovered in Peru, it really caught my attention.
The statues were spotted by hikers exploring this cliff located in a remote location in peru.
They also found other awesome relics in the site called “Karajia,” –– the tombs of ancient wise men. The local people call the sarcophagi the “Purunmachos.”
Some archeologists speculate that the Purunmachos could be over 1000 years old.
According to National Geography, each sarcophagus is about 10 feet high, with the head of each ornamented with horns, and some with skulls! No one has been able to explain how they got up there.
Somehow this reminds me of the mysterious stone heads of Easter Island!
