Normally, soup kitchens don’t add pets into the equation when caring for people who can’t afford their own food, but this one in New York City has.
Collide is a program that was started to cover more than just food needs. Throughout the year, this ministry provides food, medical attention and basic needs for those that come in – pets included. If a pet needs to see a veterinarian, they most certainly will.
Since 2010, the group has provided assistance to hundreds of people and their pets. They understand that homeless people don’t have it easy, and that having a companion is important to maintaining a sane state of mind. Currently, the group is expanding, so that everyone in need can get what they need.
When pets are happy, people are happy.
