Mournful internet users paid tribute to a police dog killed Wednesday in a raid on a French suburb where several suspects in Friday’s deadly attacks in Paris were hiding.
According to media reports, the brave dog helped police officers locate the suspects before officers exchanged gunfire with the jihadists. Tragically, the dog died in the raid.
The hashtag #JeSuisChien quickly went viral through Twitter in honor of seven-year-old Diesel. Police said that the Belgian Malinois pup was “essential” to the operation.
Before the seven-hour siege ended, two suspects were dead and seven others had been taken into custody, reported the Huffington Post.
Rest well hero.
