In a frightening scam that has pop up this holiday season, scammers can do more than just taking your money. This particular scam has been going on since at least last year and it involves leaving a $100 bill under your windshield wiper.
It seems like a nice holiday surprise, but, according to media reports, it may just be a scam. The Maryland Attorney General’s office is warning shoppers about scammers leaving $100 bill on windshields to lure drivers out of their cars.
However, this is what the criminals want. That split second when you get out of your car, leave the door open and the keys in the ignition is all they need to jump in and drive away.
“They’re trying to get your money and trying to get your safety in any way they can.” Attorney General – Consumer Protection Karen Straughn said.
