The role of caring for an elderly relative can be a challenging one. Traditional options include moving the relative to a nursing home, or to the home of another family member. But a Virginia company has come up with an idea that is worth exploring.
MedCottage is a product developed by N2Care to offer seniors a way of maintaining independence and protecting their health while staying close to loved ones — in some cases, just a few steps away.
As the Washington Post reports, “the MedCottage is a state-of-the-art hospital room with remote monitoring available so caregivers and family members have peace of mind knowing they are providing the best possible care. But it’s not actually in a hospital – it’s designed to be placed right in the backyard a personal residence.”
The concept has drawn a lot of attention and is being hailed as a “very smart thing to do.”
