A rare and fascinating video showing the moment a baby born inside the amniotic sac takes his first breath has emerged online.
Made of two membranes, the amniotic sac is a bag of fluid that develops inside a pregnant woman’s womb, within which the unborn baby grows, while helping to maintain a constant temperature within the womb. Typically the amniotic sac breaks on its own during birth, which is commonly referred to as a mother’s “water breaking”.
In the footage, the unidentified baby’s face, hands, and feet are clearly visible as he lays curled up inside with the placenta and umbilical cord. The obstetrician can be seen wiping the amniotic sac with a cloth while saying “hola” to the baby. Incredibly, the baby seems to respond to his touch and can be seen moving inside the enclosed space.
