Restaurant Manager Is Asked To Confront Noisy Autistic Girl. What He Does Instead? Wow!

Tony Posnanski has been managing restaurants for over 15 years. Over that time, he has met thousands of people, but a recent interaction with a customer and her daughter struck a chord with Posnanski, and he was compelled to share that story.

On a Facebook post, Tony address his message “To the woman and child who sat at table 9.” He then writes, “A few weeks back you came into my restaurant. I was asked to talk to a table close to yours … they said your child was being very loud.”

Posnanski explains that when approached the woman, he as greeted with a question that hit him square in the chest. “Do you know what it is like to have a child with autism?” she asked the veteran manager. In that moment, Posnanski thought deeply about his role as a father. He knew this wasn’t the first time this woman had been in this situation. So rather than ask them to leave – as some complaining customers asked him to do – he did something that silenced everyone. He paid the bill, high-fived the woman’s daughter, and told them “enjoy your meal.”

“Honestly, I wrote this to you and your beautiful daughter because I wanted to thank you both,” he writes, “You also taught me a valuable lesson … Sometimes doing the right thing does not make everyone happy; just the people who need it the most.”
