Camping out in the wilderness entails certain dangers, one of them being the wild carnivores that survive on that land. For example, if you go out camping in the Northeastern forests of the United States, you might encounter an a pack of gray wolves. If you go out to South Africa, you might come across a pride of lions hunting for their next meal.
That’s what these tourists in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park woke up to when three lionesses set foot outside their tent. However, it didn’t seem that they were there for their next meal, but the rainwater dripping onto the side of the tent.
Francie Lubbe, steady as a rock, captured the incredible and close encounter as the lionesses licked the water off the transparent side of the tent:
What a special and scary moment! These group of tourists will never forget that day they were only arms length away from three of nature’s largest cats. Why these cats simply ignored or didn’t notice these people, we’ll never know!
