Let’s face it, the worst thing about the condition isn’t the head pain: It’s everything. Now, can you imagine suffering from debilitating migraines for 25 years – only to find out it was all down to one ingredient in your diet?
This is what 46-year-old Andrea Henson had to put up with without having any idea what was causing them. After one severe episode, Henson even ended up in the hospital with a suspected embolism.
“I had to have all kinds of tests including a lumbar puncture and CT scan. It was very frightening and just goes to show how bad migraines can be.”
She was prescribed ‘very strong’ migraine relief tablets, but she was only allowed to take them four times a month.
The attacks, which could last for days, often left Andrea feeling exhausted and would affect her senses.
“My episodes were always unpredictable, they could come on quickly and affect my vision or be a slow starter, lasting anywhere between one to three days,” she explained.
However, after stoically suffering for over two decades Andrea found out her migraines were caused by intolerances to cows milk and corn. It was by chance that a food intolerance testing program was recommended to her for her business.
It was then that she found out about her intolerances, and that both of her children, 18-year-old Mckenna and 16-year-old Carter, were also unable to tolerate cow’s milk.
Now the whole family has replaced dairy milk with soy, Andrea says her migraines have “pretty much disappeared.”
