Last month, a shocking crime story from Albuquerque, NM, hit the news — one that the Chief of Police called “most gruesome act of evil” he’d ever seen.
While responding to an anonymous tip regarding a domestic disturbance, police uncovered one of the most brutal and sickening acts perpetrated in recent memory. They found the body of 10-year-old Victoria Martens. She had been brutally raped, mutilated, stabbed, choked, dismembered, and burnt alive, then been wrapped in a blanket.
The perpetrators, 35-year-old Michelle Martens — the mother of Victoria — her 31-year-old boyfriend, Fabian Gonzales, and Gonzales’s cousin, 31-year-old Jessica Kelley, were all arrested.
Police said that Michelle and Jessica forced Victoria to take methamphetamine to “calm her down” while Gonzales assaulted her. Then they’d taken her life.
According to police, Michelle Martens showed no remorse for participating in the brutal murder and rape of her own daughter as evident in pictures by her cold-eyed expression.
But as bad as this sounds, new details have emerged which only add another dimension of horror to the story. According to the KOAT-7News, Martens told police that she actively looked for men online and at work to sexually assault her daughter, including Fabian Gonzales.
Martens confessed that she had arranged meetings with at least three men before her daughter’s murder in August, and worse, that she didn’t arrange the multiple rape of Victoria for the money—but because she enjoyed watching.
Martens even videotaped some of the encounters, watching them herself later for her own pleasure, according to authorities.
Martens, Gonzales, and Kelley have each been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated criminal abused of a child under 13.
