The photo above is more than a photo. It’s a strong message that shows that you should always stand up for what you believe in, no matter the obstacles.
Last weekend in the Mexico city of Celaya, a massive anti-LGBT protest took place after President Enrique Peña Nieto suggested that the country’s constitution should be changed to allow same-sex marriage. Same=sex marriage remains illegal in 31 Mexican states.
The giant group of people which was guided by police cars was met by one brave 12-year-old boy. He was tired of all the hate. The boy has a gay uncle and “hates that people hate.”
The powerful image sends a strong message, as it resembles one of the most iconic images in the 20th century: “Tank Man,” during the Tiananmen Square Protests in China in 1989.
The ultimate goal is to let people love and be loved. Over 79 countries still punish people because of their sexual preferences. People get sent to prison and are sometimes killed for their homosexuality. It’s incredible to believe but it’s true.
