During Dallas Shooting, These People Crowded Around a Stroller To Save a Baby’s Life

Yesterday, the nation was shocked as several news outlets reported that 12 officers and two civilians were shot and five lives lost as a sniper targeted police during Dallas protest over the shooting of black men by police. But during the horror of the gunshots and the chaos caused by thousands trying to flee at once, incredible acts of heroism by police officers and civilians were captured on camera.

Hundreds of images circulated from the aftermath of the shooting that hijacked the peaceful Dallas rally yesterday. This one showing a group of strangers shielding a baby stroller from the sniper bullets has touched the world.

These unidentified six people, whose very first thought in a moment of blind panic, was the safety of a child. A child they probably didn’t even know.

The powerful image, originally shown on CNN footage, was taken by @Khanoisseur and posted by Nate Horman, who wrote:

“In the middle of the horror, in the wake of the nightmare, amid the outrage and the call to arms is this moment of humanity: People, black and white, surrounded a baby stroller in Dallas as the gunfire broke out. This is the better nature of our angels. This is who we are and who we should strive to be.”

Amen to that!

The Dallas sniper, Micah Xavier Johnson, had been sent home from Afghanistan after being accused of sexually harassing a female, and was described as a loner who followed black militant groups on social media.

Johnson fatally shot five officers and wounded seven more before police killed him with a remote-controlled bomb on Friday.

Compassion goes a long way. Please pass it on!
