Animals’ acts of compassion are not uncommon, but the love and affection between this monkey and his adopted puppy is simply remarkable.

A rhesus macaque who opened his heart to an orphan puppy in the city of Erode, India has amazed the world, and it’s easy to see why.

The wild primate adopted the young orphan dog and appears to regard him as his own baby.

But the monkey took on full mom duties, protecting the helpless pup from bigger stray dogs.

The incredible show of compassion has touched the hearts of the locals, who told reporters “the kind monkey shares his food with his canine companion, making sure that the dog eats first.”

The monkey mom takes her puppy everywhere, carrying him around like her own child.

The pair has sparked a lot of interest from internet users worldwide. The Logical Indian page posted on Facebook, “This is an amazing example shown by nature and there is a lot to learned from this.”

Zee News wrote: “People who have seen them spoke of their strong mutual affection and described their bond as the most caring thing in the world — to take care of a puppy in danger and protect him, like a parent. Their undying affection gives us a valuable lesson about relationships.”
