Sharp-Shooting Army Veteran Uses Rifle To Rescue Eagle Stuck In Tree

When Jason Galvin and his wife spotted a helpless eagle hanging from a tree in their Minnesota town, 70 feet in the air, struggling to stay alive, they knew they had to act fast to save the poor bird. They called the police, the fire department, the DNR… but no one would help. But leaving the bird to die up there all alone was not in Jason’s mind.

Jason’s wife asked him to grab his rifle and try to shoot at the rope until the eagle was released. She knew he was a good shot, and that’s because Jason is an army veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan.

With the approval from the DNR, Jason agreed to the nearly impossible feat and took out his .22 long rifle, and started shooting at the rope and branch tied to the eagle’s fragile leg — all the while, trying not to hit the bird. Nearly two hours and 150 shots later, Jason pulled off the unthinkable.
