Deaf Dog Learns Sign Language Then Gets Adopted By Woman Who's Also Deaf

“Sit,” “stay,” “roll over,” are all common commands that we ask our dogs to do. Well what if your do was deaf and couldn’t hear those commands. That was the case for a sweet pit bull named Rosie.

When Tracy Peifley first met Rosie she noticed she was very timid and wasn’t as social as the other dogs in the shelter. But soon Tracy began to teach her sign language, and eventually Rosie was able to interact with humans.

Like most dogs learn new tricks, Tracy used treats to teach Rosie certain commands. It didn’t take long for Rosie to pick up the things Tracy was teaching her, and soon they became very close friends.

It was a bitter-sweet day for Tracy when they finally found a permanent home for Rosie.

Cindy Cook, who is also deaf, became very fond of the sweet dog. Cindy and her family all know how to communicate through sign language and were eager to take Rosie home with them.

Talking about her adoption Tracy says, “It’s what I hoped would eventually happen and she couldn’t have gone to a nicer family.”

Take a look at the video below and find out more about Rosie’s story.
