Sometimes it’s the saddest of circumstances that bring out the best in us. A group of friends gathered at a Ninety-Nine restaurant in Rockland, Massachusetts to mourn the loss of Patrick Sullivan, someone they knew and loved who died in a car crash on New Year’s Day. Eating next to them was a local police officer who learned about their tragic loss, and what he did next shocked everyone at the table.
Without saying a word, the officer paid for their meal, and left. He didn’t leave a name. The bill? It came to over $400. When they tracked him down, he said he didn’t want recognition for his deed and wanted to keep it to himself.
