Iran’s Revolutionary Guard staged the bombing of a model U.S. warship during the latest military exercise aimed to display Iran’s military capability and expanding its influence in the gulf region.

Iranian State TV footage showed a number of gunboats swarming a huge model U.S. warship and blasting it with missiles, reported the Huffington Post.

The video also showed a banner which reads “If the Americans are ready to be buried at the bottom of the waters of the Persian Gulf – so be it.” That is a quote from Iran’s first Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, according to the report.

This is troublesome for the current negotiations between Iran and the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany to ensure Iran’s nuclear program is not aimed at developing nuclear weapons.
