This story is a tear-jerker to say the least. It’s a boy’s last message to his parents before he passed away.
Leland Shoemake was a 6-year-old boy from Williamson, Georgie. After battling with meningitis for weeks he passed away on September 25th. It’s sad to say that his parents returned home that day without their loving child.
Amber, the boy’s mother, was in her son’s room preparing for the funeral when she heard her husband Tim calling for her. Tim had found a note in the living room area where Leland liked to draw. The note read : “Still with you. Thank you mom and dad. Love mom and dad.”
Both parents bursted into tears. “To say I lost it was an understatement,” Amber said. “We cried together for the longest time.”
“He knew his abc’s, numbers, colors, shapes and 20 sight words by the time he was a year old. He was our little nerd and we loved that about him. He loved school and loved to learn. He loved the history channel, the weather channel, documentaries and anything about history. He had a hunger for learning,” the mother had posted on Facebook.
Leland had written notes to their parents before, but nothing compared to this one. This note was the most special one. The parents plan on framing the note and hanging it in their living room.
The hardest thing to go through in life is losing a child. Unfortunately for this family their son left this world too soon.
