There are no rules as to how to respond to a rude letter from your spouse, specially if it says you are being cheated on.
In this fictional story, a husband heading out for a business trip wrote the following letter for his math teacher wife, letting her know about his infidelities, and left it on the dining room table:

You must realize that you are 54 years old and I have certain needs which you are no longer able to satisfy. I am otherwise happy with you as a wife. I sincerely hope you will not be hurt or offended to learn that, by the time you read this letter, I will be at the Grand Hotel with my 18-year-old secretary.
I’ll be home before midnight.
Your Husband.”
Wow! that’s a truly disheartening letter. How did the wife handled this sour situation? Well, … brilliant!
When the husband arrived home late that night, there was a letter waiting for him which read as follows:

I received your letter and thank you for your honesty about my being 54 years old. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you are also 54 years old. By the time you read this, I will be at the Breakwater Hotel with Michael, one of my students. He is young, virile and, like your assistant, 18-years-old.
Being a successful businessman who has an excellent knowledge of man, you can easily appreciate the fact that 18 goes into 54 a lot more times than 54 goes into 18, so don’t wait up. I’ll be home sometime tomorrow.
Your Wife.”
How would you handle something like that?
