Endless Love: Husband, 108, Wife, 105, Celebrate 82 Years Married

Duranord and Jeanne Veillard tied the knot in 1932, the same year that Franklin Delano Roosevelt became the 32nd President of the United States. They’re still going strong, not only in marriage, but in life.

With a combined age of 213, the Veillards not only have lived to be centenarians, they’ve also been married 82 years — more than many of us can expect to live. The couple celebrated the milestone with close family and friends in Spring Valley, New York.

Wearing a white guayabera, brown slacks and brown leather shoes, Duranord Veillard indulged in the attention of his family. He spoke at length in French Creole —– cracking jokes, asking for his American flag and serenading the room with a song from the 1920s.

His wife, Jeanne, sat quietly next to him, wearing a white linen dress and a pair of pink slippers, holding hands.

How did the couple meet? “I found him in the street,” Jeanne joked in French Creole, sparking laughter among relatives in the room.

When asked his secret for living a long life, Duranord responded “That’s God.”

At 108, he maintains an active, healthy lifestyle. He starts his day at 5 a.m. with a bowl of oatmeal and a round of pushups.

Wow. What a great example of enduring love! We at Tabooya love to share stories like this. Do you know about any other couple being married this long?
