Some people go to extreme lengths to get a perfect picture before posting it to Facebook. But Rachel Hollis didn’t care to show some rough edges when she posted a picture of herself on the beach for the holidays, wearing a bikini. And the response was amazing.
Rachel posted the image below with the caption: “They aren’t scars ladies, they’re stripes and you’ve earned them.” The powerful caption gave the image an inspirational message to mothers, triggering and incredible response worldwide.
“They aren’t scars ladies, they’re stripes and you’ve earned them”
After posting the picture, an avalanche of positive comments from other mothers poured in on the post
“Thank you for sharing this! Finally another woman who’s stomach that looks like mine,” one comment says.
“I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini. I have a belly that’s permanently flabby from carrying three giant babies and I wear a bikini. My belly button is saggy. . . (which is something I didn’t even know was possible before!!) and I wear a bikini,” another mother wrote.
“You have no idea of how empowering your words are to someone as myself,” another mom posted.
