If humans would guide their lives by the Golden Rule, what a wonderful world this would be. The “Golden Rule” is the name given to a principle Jesus taught in His Sermon on the Mount: “treat others the way yourself like to be treated.”

People universally desire respect, love, and appreciation, whether they deserve it or not. Jesus understood this desire and used it to promote godly behavior. The Golden Rule is also part of the second greatest commandment, preceded only by the command to love God Himself (Matthew 22:37–39) “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

In the video below, reality TV star Marcus Lemonis meets Tami, an expecting mother working two jobs, as a store manager and a bartender. When Lemonis tells her what he wants to do with her management position, the pregnant woman totally breaks. But what followed got me tearing up alongside Tami as I listened to him explaining what he wanted to do for her, given the circumstances she’s in. A perfect example of the Golden Rule.
