Meet Osiris, a 3-year-old Dutch shepherd mix and his best friend Riff Ratt, a 3-month-old fancy rat. This unlikely duo live in Chicago, and judging from their picture posted to Instagram, they really couldn’t be better friends.
I didn’t know fancy rats could be such good pets, but according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), fancy rats are curious, intelligent and always up for some fun, and can quickly learn to fall in love with their human companions.
Take a look at these odd friends giving each other love, playing ball together, and exchanging belly rubs. So adorable!
