Science Just Invented a Painless Eye Implant For Superhuman Vision

Blurred vision, laser surgery driving glasses, progressive lenses and contact lenses will soon become a dim memory thanks to a major leap in eye prosthetics that will allow patients to see three times better than 20/20 vision without wearing glasses or contacts, even at age 100 or more.

According to British Columbia optometrist Garth Webb, founder of Ocumetics and the creator of the Bionic Lens, the simple procedure is totally painless and would allow someone who can’t make out an object at 10 feet to see it clearly from 30 feet. It’s like having super human vision.

He says “the painless procedure, identical to cataract surgery, would take about eight minutes and a patient’s sight would be immediately corrected,” adding that “perfect eyesight would result “no matter how crummy your eyes are.”

Dr. Garth Webb says “the bionic lens would allow people to see to infinity and replace the need for eyeglasses and contact lenses.”

“This is vision enhancement that the world has never seen before,” Webb told CBC, showing a Bionic Lens, which looks like a tiny button.

Ophthalmologist Vincent DeLuise, who teaches at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, says he arranged several meetings on April, when experts in various fields learned about the lens.

According to the report, the Bionic Lens could be available in Canada and elsewhere in about two years, depending on regulatory processes in various countries, pending clinical trials.

If this works, it would be a game-changer for anyone over 40!
