This Man Breaks Through Security In This Race. When I Learn Why, I'm a Wreck

In life, things don’t always work out the way we’d like. Often times we experience unexpected set backs that make us fall. But it’s only when we get up and continue that we can achieve success. This inspiring story is a perfect example of that.

Race track athlete Derek Redmon was favored to win the gold medal in the olympic 400 meter sprint in Barcelona, Spain. However, about 150 meters into the race, Derek felt a searing pain in his leg. He fell to the ground with a torn hamstring. The agonizing pain was paralyzing. But determined to finish the race, he got up and continued. Trainers came to his aid, but he waved them off, limping alone the track as the crowd gasped.

At that moment, a man is seen making his way down through the crowd and jumps onto the racetrack. A security guard tries to stop him, but the man breaks his grip and rushes to Derek’s side. It was his father.

“You don’t have to do this,” he told his son. “Yes, I do,” Derek replied. “Well then, we’re going to finish this together!” What followed became one of the most inspiring moments ever recorded in sport history.

If you were as touched by this inspiring moment as we were , please share it with your friends and family!
