The NBA Finals are over. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cavaliers 105–97 Game in game 6 to capture their first NBA title since 1975. There’s no argument about whether the Warriors were the best team in the league this season. But the game’s big surprised came when they announced the final’s MVP player.

GSW guard Andre Iguodala was named Most Valuable Player of the 2015 NBA Finals over LeBron James. It was a stunning moment for Iguodala, who came to Golden State in 2013 seeking to play with players who share his Christian faith.

He accepted his bench role despite having been an All-Star and a starter throughout his career. When called upon, Iguodala changed the course of the series with his superb defense and with his impact when moved into the starting lineup in Game 4.

Iguodala was the Warriors’ best player by a large margin, averaging 16.3 points, 4.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 5.8 rebounds, all while defending LeBron James.

“We have a team full of believers. We go to chapel before every game. We all believe that God has a purpose for you. This is my purpose,” Iguodala said after receiving the award.
