Police Officer Trades Gift Cards For parking Tickets On Last Day On The Job.

When people retire from their jobs, you would expect a farewell party, but this police officer decided to do something different. He spent his last day on the job trading parking tickets for gift certificates, to give back to the community he loves and has served for over 14 years.

Instead of issuing parking tickets, Commander Brian Peters, an officer in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, was seen handing out gift cards to people in his community, reported the Huffington post.

“The citizens and city have been wonderful to me, I am very blessed so it feels good to always give back,” he told the news reporters.

Officer Peters bought the equivalent of his daily paycheck in gift cards and began handing them out to people in Brooklyn Center, according to the post.

A 20-year-old man and his girlfriend, a mother of four at a laundromat, and a woman with a damaged car were just some of the many recipients of this officer’s act of kindness.

Peters told reporters that he hopes his initiative “will help build positive relationships between citizens and their local police force, and encourage other people to be charitable within their community.”

Fox News picked up the story in the video below:

Please share if you were touched by this officer’s inspiring act of compassion.
