She Struggles To Smile At Her Wedding. When I See Why, My Heart Broke

When Kristi Warriner imagined her wedding, she never thought her big day would have to take place at a hospital, but she wouldn’t want it any other way.

Kristi and Justin Nelson got married Tuesday November 11 next to their infant son JJ, who was receiving treatment in the neonatal intensive care unit at Cook Children’s Medical Center. JJ’s twin brother had passed tragically in his mother’s womb, forcing doctors to perform an induced delivery to save JJ.

Losing a child is something no parent should go through. The tiny JJ was born 1 pound and 13 ounces, with chronic lung problems. But he has been fighting his way through survival this past month.

Given JJ’s condition, the engaged couple decided to have their special wedding right next to JJ in the hospital.

“Our mission behind all this was to hopefully let others know that have been there, are there, or unfortunately one day could be in a similar situation as ours, and let them know they are not alone,” Kristi told reporters in the video below.

This broke my heart. I hope little JJ recovers soon and join mom and dad as a happy, healthy boy. Please Share if your were touched by this story.
