NFL Player Locks Himself In Hot Car, Teach Us Valuable Lesson

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, heatstroke in vehicles is the leading cause of all non-crash-related deaths involving children 14 and younger. However, far too many wonderful parents and caregivers believe that this would never happen to them or their family. The experiment in the video below shows is a reminder that “nobody is immune.”

Texas leads the nation in the number of children who have died in hot cars, but the leader per-capita are Arkansas and Nevada. The following chart reflects the troubling statistic from January, 1998 to July, 2015.

n the clip below, The Arizona Cardinals’ Tyrann Mathieu illustrates the consequences of leaving a child or a pet inside a car in hot weather, even for the quickest errand. The video was produced as a PSA to bring awareness to this commonly underestimated danger. While this video focuses on dogs, it also applies to children.

Awesome awareness video! As a parent and dog owner I couldn’t even think about leaving my child or best friend in a hot car even for a second.
