They Set Up a Camera In This Old Woman's Home. What It Recorded Made Me Cry


Nowadays, more older Americans are living alone, but a staggering number of those seniors are experiencing social isolation. A decades-long study has shown that both loneliness and infrequent contact with friends and family can, independently, shorten a person’s life.

Staying in a familiar community may offer benefits to seniors’ emotional well-being – but research indicates that a great number of seniors who should be receiving assisted living care are still living at home – in many cases, alone.

As time goes on, the matriarchs and patriarchs of our families watch their children grow up and move out, watch their grandchildren do the same, and most heartbreakingly of all, watch the loves of their lives succumb to old age and slip away. This often leads to an extremely lonely existence.

With one visit or just a phone call, we have the power to add a little bit of light to their lives. They surely deserve that and more, because we probably never would’ve made it to adulthood without them.
