He Stepped Up To The Microphone At Graduation, Then Revealed Something Devastating

Graduation speeches are usually filled with encouragement, well-wishes, and more often than not, they bring students, faculty, and parents to tears. But one student in New Zealand just gave the most heartbreaking speech of all time – and it was absolutely remarkable.

Jake Bailey, 18, was given three weeks to live after being diagnosed with deadly cancer just days before his high school graduation. But in an astonishing display of bravery, the 18-year-old student made a surprise visit at the Christchurch Boy’s High School assembly in New Zealand despite being told by doctors that he “wouldn’t be here tonight to deliver this speech.”

The courageous student was diagnosed with Burkitts non-Hodgkin lymphoma – a super aggressive cancer that would kill him in three weeks. Miraculously he has defied to odds to give a heart-wrenching speech to his classmates.

“They said, ‘if you don’t get any treatment within the next three weeks you’re going to die.’ Then they told me I wouldn’t be here tonight to deliver that speech,” he began.

“I wrote a speech, and a week before I was due to deliver this speech tonight they said, ‘You’ve got cancer’,” he began.

The inspirational speech challenged the audience and the world to seize every moment – and it’s stunning. Watch:
