98-Year-Old Couple Recreates Their Wedding After 70 Years


‘And they lived happily ever after’ is a phrase you often hear in fairy tales, but this real life story proves what love can last a lifetime.

Meet Wang Deyi, 98, and Cao Yuehua, 97. They got married in 1945 on the banks of Jialing River in Chongqing, China. Last week, their four children helped them celebrate their 70th anniversary by recreating their wedding photos.

The couple’s youngest son, 60-year-old Cao Pangpei told CNN: “My dad asked my mom for a dance and they fell in love with each other almost at first sight. That’s it. That’s how my father met my mother.”

According to Associated press, Cao was sent to the frontline in India to be an interpreter for the U.S. Army shortly after meeting in 1943.

They are still in love after so many years. The couple told reporters that they “plan to recreate their wedding again when they both turn 100.”

“We want to help them preserve their memories of the love they’ve shared,” their son said.
