Watch The Touching Moment a Veteran Learns He'll Get His Dogs Back After Hospital Stay

Bailey and Blaze had no one to take care of them. Their owner, a U.S. Navy veteran, was forced to give them up during a hospital stay. But a combination of luck and kindness led to a joyous reunion that has gone viral.

The dogs’ owner, whose name hasn’t been identified, landed in the hospital in September after suffering a heart attack, reported the Huffington Post.

Weeks later, the dogs were put up for adoption.

Upon getting out of the hospital on Wednesday, their caring owner came by the shelter located at a Petsmart.

Adoption counsellor Lindsay Carrothers said that “the dogs couldn’t contain their excitement. They greeted him with massive kisses and wagging tails.”

The veteran wanted his dogs back. He needed a little time to gather the $250 he’d need for adoption fees but he seemed determined to do so.

“He was willing to sell his car to get the money,” Carrothers says.

That night, a staff member came up with an idea to pay the fees for the man who came back to the shelter on Thursday and said “he needed a few days more to find enough money.” But he was told that wouldn’t be necessary and that “Bailey and Blaze were his.”

“He was so thankful he shot a kiss to God for the blessing,” says Carrothers.

Watch his emotional reaction after he learned he’ll get back his dogs:

“It had everyone in tears,” Carrothers says. “You could just feel the love those dogs had for him. And there shouldn’t have been anything, especially money. that should’ve stood in his way to getting his family back.”

The donations haven’t stopped, the report says. Supplies have been coming in for the dogs, and for the man. The staffer says that she is proud to be part of this effort, to bring this loving family back together. And to make sure they can stay that way.
