When it comes to animal friendship, you would think a huge husky and a petite poodle would be an unlikely pair. But these two complement each other like Cheese and Crackers.

Arlo, a male husky, and Spot, a female poodle, were found wandering the streets of Oakland, California together.

It is unknown if they were abandoned together or met on their own, but when the pups were brought in by animal control and rescued by the Humane Society Silicon Valley they were already inseparable.

“Spot always keeps Arlo within eye distance,” the humane society explained. “She’s always around him, beside him or on top of him. We hope they can find a forever home together,” they added.

Unfortunately, last week, “Arlo came down with an aggressive case of pneumonia and is currently fighting for his life,” they said.

Arlo, who’s a large dog, weighed only 52 pounds when he was discovered. Spot was extremely matted and in dire need of help.

“We knew they weren’t in great condition when they came in, but we never expected this,” Finnegan Dowling, media manager at HSSV, said.

Arlo and Spot’s adoption has been temporarily put on hold. “Once he’s back on his feet he and Spot will be back to looking for a home where they can be together,” Dowling explained.

“God forbid, if Arlo doesn’t make it, we’re going to have to try very hard to find Spot the right home,” she added.

We hope Arlo can recover soon and these adorable friends find a home together.
