The fierce beauty and proud independence of eagles symbolizes strength and freedom. Sadly, these majestic creatures are often affected in a negative way by the inconsiderate actions perpetrated by humans in their habitat.
These wildlife rescuers found a bald eagle perched on a low-hanging branch on a tree, crying, unable to fly.

The bird was found in terrible shape. There were no visible injuries on the bird, so she worried the bird may be poisoned.

“This eagle had been scavenging — maybe a turkey or maybe a grouse,” the rescuers wrote on their facebook page. “Eagles are one of the most susceptible birds to lead poisoning. It takes only a tiny, tiny amount to be a lethal dose.”
Blood tests confirmed that the eagle had toxic levels of lead in its blood. Lead poisoning is common in eagles who can ingest lead fragments left behind by hunters.

The team started treating her with a special chemical to help remove the poisonous lead from her body.
Slowly, the beautiful eagle — nicknamed “Birdzilla” — became strong enough to fight.
After one entire month, the majestic creature had fully recovered, and just a few days ago, the rescuers released the eagle back into the wild.
The weather was perfect that day, and the sky calm and bright.
The beautiful eagle was finally home in her breathtaking natural habitat, thanks to the wonderful care of the rehabilitation center!
According to the group’s website, the Department of Natural Resources has banned the use of lead ammunition.
We hope Birdzilla story serves as a lesson about the dangers of disposing toxic metals on natural lands.
