Soldier's Spontaneous Act Of Kindness Goes Viral

This soldier was eating at taco bell recently when two kids came in trying to sell homemade sweets for money. What followed has gone viral and you’ll see why.

Lt. Col. Robert Risdon Jr., a U.S. Army Ranger, was at a Taco Bell in Mobile, Alabama when the boys walked into the fast food restaurant. They asked if anyone was interested in purchasing some homemade desserts. They were trying to raise money for their local church.

Risdon noticed the boys were cold and wet. The ranger, who is a father of two, asked them if they’d eaten dinner yet. They hadn’t. Then he proceeded to treat them to tacos!

His spontaneous good deed was captured on camera by customer Jason Gibson, a football coach of the Columbus Lions, who shared the video on Youtube. The clip has gone viral with commenters applauding the soldier for going above and beyond to make sure two boys could have a proper dinner.

“I’m kinda embarrassed and humbled by the praise and don’t need it,” Risdon told HuffPost. “I am a believer that we live in the best country in the world with the best people and that acts of kindness happen every day.”

According to the Post, the ranger’s motivation to help lies in the U.S. Army Rangers’ mission statement.

“I did it because of a creed I live up to every day – the Ranger Creed,” the soldier said before adding, “Never shall I fail my comrades. The boys were my comrades – It was my duty to help them!”
