Heather Clark’s son, Lukas, was only seven months old when he tragically died in 2013. But she will never forget the comforting rhythm of his pulsing heart.
Not wanting another mom to have to go through the pain of losing a child if she could help it, Heather made a quick and selfless decision: she donated Lukas’ organs to three other people in need.
And last week, for the first time in three years, Clark was able to hear the heartbeat of her son with a stethoscope pressed to the chest of the 4-year-old girl who received his heart.
In an incredibly tender moment, Clark was introduced to 4-year-old Jordan Drake, Lukas’ heart transplant recipient, who offered to let the grieving mother listen to her son’s heartbeat.
“In that moment, it was just me and him, we had been on this long journey together and we both knew this was the end point,” Clark, told reporters. “He’s gone, but he will keep living through Jordan forever,” she added.
