Jimi Hendrix's Iconic Song Played On An Ancient Korean Instrument Is Unbelievably Cool!

Published on Feb 22, 2016

In the video you’re about to watch, South Korean musician Luna takes Jimi Hendrix’s iconic track “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” 1,500 years back in time with this incredible reworking.

Luna plays the classic song on a gayageum, a traditional zither-like string instrument that dates back to the sixth century.

According to Luna, “the sound made by the original instrument was quiet, as they were only designed to be played in small rooms. But she likes to play contemporary music and redeveloped her instrument to match the sounds made by modern guitars, bass and drums. The result is sensational!”

The video was initially posted to YouTube in 2013 but it’s now going viral – and has racked up more than 3.9 million views.

Watch, and be sure to pass it on!
