This timid mama dog had been sad and scared, but she couldn’t contain her joy when she saw her puppies again after an anxiety-filled separation. The dog’s transformation at the sight of her puppies was captured on camera and is guaranteed to melt your heart.

The heartwarming reunion with her babies was shared online by the Marin Humane Society this week. The dog, named Cora, was surrendered by her owner over the weekend. After an examination, however, it became clear that the pup had recently given birth, the Bay Area group said.

Cora’s former owner was “evasive and unwilling to admit that the dog had had any puppies,” The Humane Society told SFGate. Eventually, the group managed to convince the owner to surrender the four pups, who were still too young to be separated from their mom.

In the video, Cora can be seen standing scared in a corner. But once she realized that her puppies were there, she rushes forward to greet them, her tail wagging with delight.

“We captured the moment when sad and scared mom got to see her puppies again. Tears of joy all around at this happy reunion,” the Marin Humane Society wrote on Facebook.

Cora and puppies will be placed in a foster home today and in a few weeks will be up for adoption and hope Cora can find a forever home too.
