Free Diver Goes After A Whale With a Knife. When He Gets Closer, Unbelievable!

Over the years, we’ve seen incredible videos of divers rescuing fish and sea mammals from painful, sometimes life-threatening situations. But this incredible rescue is unlike anything I’ve seen before.

Most these rescuers are professional divers equipped with proper diving gear that allow them to stay underwater as they help these animals. This incredible rescue, however, shows a brave diver helping a whale in need, with nothing more than a tiny knife.

The footage, filmed near the island of Fuerteventura, Spain, shows a humpback whale caught on a long fishing line wrapped around its body, starting in its mouth and going all the way to its tail.

When free diver Cesar Espino, saw the animal from a nearby boat, he immediately decided to dive to the rescue, even when all he had was a pair of goggles, a snorkel, and a tiny knife. “Each movement the whale made was harming it,” Espino said, according to several media outlets.

“I entered the water with a knife and I positioned myself in front of the whale so it could see me; she – it was female – looked at me as if asking for help.”

It took multiple trips back and forth between the whale and the surface, but eventually, Espino was able to cut the whale free. Though the video summarizing the event is only a minute long, the rescue apparently took an entire hour. But what an incredible hour it must have been!

Take a look and please SHARE this incredible act of kindness.
