As a former Marine, Katy Humphrey learned to be ready for anything. But she never expected this!
Earlier this month, the 33-year-old mom and full-time student brought her 4-month-old daughter, Millie, to class at Baylor University after her babysitter canceled at the last minute. What happened during class, however, has taken the internet by storm.

Professor Darryn Willoughby saw Millie starting to get “fussy” in the front row of his class, and he didn’t think twice before scooping up the little one from her mother’s arms and cradling her during the 55 minutes lecture.

The toddler’s mom, who’s pursuing a degree in exercise physiology, said she developed “a can-do mentality from her time in the Marine Corps and knew she had to go to class despite the quick change in plans.” But she was blown away by her teacher’s act of kindness.
When asked about his act, Willoughby told KWTX: “I didn’t do it for myself. It’s just about me looking out for and taking care of my students.”

As Huffington Post reports, Willoughby joins the ranks of other educators who were understanding of their students’ parenting needs. Last May, a photo showing Hebrew University Professor Sydney Engelberg holding a student’s baby while he was conducting lecture went viral.
