It’s getting warmer, and as the impending summer approaches, many Americans are bracing for a familiar problem: ants. I really love summer – except for the invasion of these pesky insects that this time of year seems to encourage. They seem to pop out of nowhere in my kitchen, along walls and crevices!
We all have our worst ant moments; mine happened when I was preparing to give my 4-year-old son his breakfast cereal and noticed the entire contents of the package moving, like if the cereal was alive. Then I saw the ants that had found their way in.
Over the years, I’ve tried many tips for keeping those ants out of your house without luck. Thankfully, I came across this awesome video. In it, Greg the Gardener provides an easy, cheap alternative to getting rid of ants, using common household products. Best of all, the “recipe” is all natural and involves items you’re likely to have in your home already.
He mixes stain remover and disinfectant, Borax, with sugar and honey. The resulting mix is a truly killer combination.
You’ll need: Hot water, cup for mixing, 6-8 teaspoons of honey or sugar, 6-8 teaspoons of Borax and a spray bottle.
