Scientists around the world were left baffled after archeologists discovered the partial remains of a female thought to have died over a millennium ago and nearly 10,000 feet high in Mongolia’s Altai Mountains. And the reason will surprise you too.

The mummy’s feet appear to be in a pair of trainers with the iconic three-stripe logo of the German sportswear brand ‘Adidas.’

“This is a very rare phenomenon,” researcher B. Sukhbaatar told the Siberian Times.  The picture has sparked an avalanche of comments online, with hundreds of Internet users suggesting this is a ‘time traveler’.

“It is the first complete Turkik burial at least in Mongolia — and probably in all Central Asia,” Sukhbaatar said.

Experts have reacted to the rare discovery with raised eyebrows but are excited about the fact that this would the first complete Turkik burial found in Central Asia, and could offer unique and unprecedented insight into the lives of Mongols at the time.

“This person was not from elite, and we believe it was likely a woman, because there is no bow in the tomb,” archeologists said.
