When Police in Rome responded to an elderly couple’s apartment after concerned neighbors reported hearing them crying and shouting, they had no idea what to expect. But what took place inside the apartment has set the internet abuzz.

When officers arrived, they found 84-year-old Jole and her 94-year-old husband Michele, who have been married for nearly 70 years, sat on the sofa crying. But they didn’t see any sign that a crime had been committed.

When asked what was wrong, the elderly couple said they had been watching TV when Jole asked her husband why there was so much hate in the news that day.

She then broke out in tears so loud that concerned neighbors had no choice but to call the police. But they were so lonely, the police visit immediately put a smile on their face.

To make it even better, while officers waited for an ambulance to arrive to check in on the couple, they decided to prepare a plate of pasta for them!

“There was no one to save,” one officer said. “This time, there is a more difficult task to perform. There are two lonely souls to reassure.”

The couple went on to tell the officers about the long life they had shared together and how they thoroughly enjoyed the officers’ company.
