This story is a powerful lesson in never giving up. Earlier this year, during one of her frequent stop-overs, German flight attendant Olivia Sievers was staying at her usual hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was walking near the hotel when a street dog wandered up to her.

Olivia wasn’t intimidated by the stray dog, despite his stalking – “he was just an unloved pup who craved attention,” she said. So she gave the dog some much-needed cuddles and food and then went on her way. But the dog wasn’t letting go that easily.

The pooch followed her to the hotel that night and every night of her stay, bedding down in front of the hotel.

“I tried to change my way as I didn’t want him to follow me to the hotel but it was not possible, he always followed me,” she told local reporters.

When she left to return to return home, she didn’t expect to ever see him again. But when she went back to that hotel, he was there waiting for her on the other side of the sliding doors!

She arranged for him to be adopted, but he ran away and returned to the hotel to wait for her.

Eventually, Olivia accepted the inevitable and adopted the dog herself – she called him Rubio. Last week, he flew across the world to his new home in Frankfurt and his new family – Olivia and her two other dogs.
