Months ago, Marie Alexander saved a 9-year-old Chihuahua from a shelter and named her Sassy. But she never expected the little pup would return the favor when she needed it the most.
On this particular day, the 92-year-old grandmother walked outside to get the mail, she stepped the wrong way and fell backward. She couldn’t get up by herself, and she thought no one would ever find her because she was lying behind her fence and bushes.
Thankfully, Sassy follows her everywhere she goes, including outside to grab the mail. With her owner incapacitated by the fall, the heroic little dog barked for five hours straight, running toward every car that passed and tried to get someone’s attention.
Sassy didn’t give up, until finally, a couple walking by heard her and came to help.
Alexander was so dehydrated she had to be hospitalized, reported ABC News. But she was saved, thanks to her smart little dog.
