This teen made a huge impact in her community by donating a year’s worth of pizza to the homeless.
19 year-old, Hanna Spooner, was recently contacted by Little Caesar’s Pizza to tell her that she had won free pizza for a year. What better prize could there be for a teenager than free pizza?
Without a second thought, Spooner decided to she wanted to give her prize to people that really needed it.
As a resident of Michigan, Spooner is no stranger to the violence and havoc that has been going on in Detroit the past few years. She spoke to Inside Edition, saying, “Detroit is going through a lot of negativity. I wanted somewhere close to home that would be affected by my donation.”
Spooner contacted several non-profits in the area. After a few phone calls, she decided to donate her winnings to the homeless youth at Covenant House Michigan. The facility helps the youth, ages 18-24, that are at-risk. They give them a place to stay, an educational program, and the tools needed to aim them towards a positive adulthood.
“I could tell it would actually make a difference. I would actually see people who benefitted from it. They were really sweet, warm, and welcoming,” Spooner stated. She hopes her story inspires people to reach out in their community and do good deeds.
